Flintlock Youth Company is a training ground for aspiring theatre-makers interested in working creatively on less conventional plays and performance styles, often in non-conventional theatre spaces, working with the ethos of a small-scale, professional theatre company. Led by Robin Colyer (Joint Artistic Director of Flintlock Theatre), FYC aims to produce exciting theatre in unusual settings around the city.
Sessions involve a mixture of skill-learning, ensemble-developing exercises and project-based rehearsal and development work. Expect a playful atmosphere (how else would you develop a play?) but one that demands focus and commitment to a project, just like a professional company. Classes provide a pre drama school level of training, supporting outside learning in English and Theatre Studies.
There is an informal audition to join the company, and we expect our
members to make a conscientious project-by-project commitment in terms of attendance and
punctuality. If you're interested in joining the company, we'd love to hear from you.
